Having worked for a Divorce attorney for two years during law school, Helen was positive she wanted to practice solely Family and Divorce Law thereafter. Immediately after passing the bar exam, Helen achieved a legal master’s degree in family and matrimonial law from the only program of its kind in the eastern United States, and one of only three such programs in the country. In order for her to attain this advanced graduate degree, Helen spent a year immersed in the study of Family and Divorce Law from experts in the field.
Helen lives in New Jersey with her husband and their two sons. She is first generation American, born and raised in Michigan by a family that immigrated to America from Russia. She speaks Russian fluently and is very connected and active in the Russian community. Her and her husband, are foodies who love living right outside of one of the culinary capitals of world (NYC), and are avid travelers. Helen is a reader of crime novels, autobiographies, and, of course, People Magazine, which is evident from her Blog Articles much centering around celebrity divorces.
For the past nine years, of the fifteen that she has been solely dedicated to the field, Helen has been the founder of her own Family and Divorce Law Practice, now known as HD FAMILY LAW, with offices in both New York and New Jersey. Additionally, she founded a Non-Profit Organization called Sunset 2 Sunrise, with the mission of empowering divorcees by giving them a makeover, a professional photo shoot, and then gifting them with a portrait to put in their home, photos for social media, dating sites, and professional websites. Helen truly values the fact that people having gone through divorce need to be supported and empowered as they move onto the new chapter of their lives.
She always strives to maintain an impeccable reputation as an attorney that will do everything in her power to protect the client’s rights and what the client is entitled to, but in the most inexpensive and amicable way possible. She is a fierce defender of her clients, as one can see by reviewing her accolades for exceptional and outstanding client service, but she does not practice at the expense of the client’s family or financial future. Helen has developed a truly holistic approach to Family and Divorce Law, and as a result 90% of her cases settle.
That is exactly the reason why Helen Dukhan chose to write this Guide. Her simple and proven method has saved numerous clients thousands of dollars. Most importantly, many such clients state that they are empowered by learning how to take control of the situation and go through the divorce process with the knowledge of what to expect and enough preparation to make the right decisions. One such client wrote that in addition to practical advice, “It is so refreshing to find an attorney that advocates for her clients to also seek emotional support.”
HELEN M. DUKHAN, wishes that everyone’s divorce was easy, that all of the stigmas that surrounds divorce would disappear, and that no one would mourn the death of their marriage, but would rather celebrate their rebirth, by proclaiming, “NOTHING SAYS A GOOD DAY LIKE A DIVORCE!”
